This is an evening skills camp for youth football players to improve their techniques. The goals of the Rensselaer Football Camp are to improve individual technical skills by improving knowledge of proper techniques and to improve speed, quickness, agility, and strength.
Both camps are evening sessions from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. First night of camp is Monday and the last night is Thursday. You will be able to play the position of your choice. Offense and defense will be offered each session. Please indicate on the application form the position you are interested in playing. This will enable us to ensure adequate coaching staff for each position.
RPI won the ECAC North Atlantic Championship in 2008! The Engineers are moving to the brand new East Campus Athletic Village in 2009!

Cost
EARLY Registration: $120.00 per
camper
LATE Registration & Walk-up
Registration: $150.00 per camper. Walk-up
registration is available for the first day of camp for those
who did not pre-register.
Group Rate: $100.00 per camper available to
groups sending 10 or more campers and following the below
instructions.
Group Rate Instructions: Special camp rates
are available for the Youth Camp (Week 1) and the Senior Camp
(Week 2) for groups sending 10 or more campers. To qualify,
all registrations must be submitted together in the same
envelope. Registrations sent separately may not qualify for
the special rates. Each camper must complete a separate
registration form and include the school name. For more

REFUNDS: All session changes must be received in writing, via fax or email. The $50.00 deposit is nonrefundable.
Program Information
CAMP GOALS: The goals of the Rensselaer Football Camp are to improve individual technical skills in the knowledge of proper technique through speed, quickness, agility, strength and to install a competitive winning attitude in the understanding of teamwork, sportsmanship, dedication, and hustle. Rensselaer head football coach Joe King and his staff are dedicated to providing each camper with a greater comprehension of the game of football.
Areas of instruction include:
OFFENSIVE LINEMAN: Fundamentals in
stance-start, technique in base run blocking, double teams
and pass blocking
RECEIVERS – FLANKERS:
Release-patterns-receiving-blocking
RUNNING BACKS: Running techniques-pass
receiving-blocking
QUARTERBACKS: Ball handling-passing-reading
defenses
DEFENSIVE BACKS: Pass
coverage(zone/man)-tackling-pass coverage drills
DEFENSIVE LINEMAN:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the required equipment for the camp? Campers should have full football equipment. Every player is in full uniform for each practice. Full football equipment means; helmets, shoulder pads, girdle, thigh & knee pads and mouth piece. Rensselaer Football Camp does not provide football equipment. Youth campers should seek equipment by contacting their Pop Warner coach. High school campers should seek equipment by contacting their high school coach.
Will each camper receive a t-shirt? Yes.
Where will the camp be held? Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY Evening Camp – Harkness Field (Synthetic turf field – illuminated for practice after dark with seats for 3,000). Parents are welcome to stay!
What type of shoes should the players have? Since camp will be on a turf field the coaching staff encourages players to wear cleats or turf shoes. However sneakers (Basketball Shoes or Cross Training Shoes) may be worn.
When is check in? Report to Harkness Field, on the first day of camp. There is no camp on Sunday. The first night of camp is Monday and the last night is Thursday. Camp begins immediately after check-in.
What will the camp cover? Here is a
schedule of activities. Games will be played the last night
of the camp.

Will the players be grouped according to age and size in order to ensure the safest environment possible? Yes.
What type of medical care is available? Medical facilities are nearby and a full time athletic trainer will be on the field.
Can a high school graduate attend camp? No.
