Each program is facilitated by a Rensselaer faculty member who is an expert in their field. Biographies of participating faculty are listed on each program page.

Programs last either a week (five days) or two weeks (10 days), depending on the program. All programs are non-credit.

Pre-requisites vary by program and are detailed on each program's webpage.

Are international students allowed to apply?
Yes, Summer at Rensselaer welcomes applicants from across the United States and abroad.

Although high school programs are targeted to rising freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors, graduating high school seniors may also apply. Elementary and middle school programs will list any specific age requirements.

Residential Program

High school students may opt to stay on campus, and should select the “residential option” on their application. Students who wish to commute to campus should select the “commuter” option during the application process.

Note that students must be at least 14 years old on the day they start the program in order to reside on campus.

Evening and Weekend Activities
The residential component, which is structured to introduce participants to the life of a typical Rensselaer student, will include both on- and off-campus activities showcasing the city of Troy and the RPI campus. Please note that evening and weekend residential life experiences are limited to students who reside on campus.

Application & Eligibility

Applications typically include an unofficial high school transcript and letters of recommendation; elementary and middle school programs require a simple registration. Application instructions are listed on each program's page.

Can a student apply to more than one program?
If a student applies and is accepted to more than one program, they are welcome to enroll in multiple sessions. Housing between sessions is available upon request.
